When you
tell a computer what to do, the command needs to be clear and accurate
because the computer does not second guess you. The same holds true when you tell your subconscious
mind what you want, because it takes everything you say literally. An
affirmation helps program your subconscious to produce the result you
want. Create a statement that
describes your goal, keeping it short, simple, positive and declarative. Include a positive emotion verb so the
affirmation activates both your heart and mind, and avoid negative
words. Phrase it in the present tense
so your subconscious knows you want it now.
For example, “I enjoy excellent health.” “I love having money come to me beautifully
and bountifully.” “I love having love
in my life every day.” Affirmations
get through to your subconscious through repetition and emotional
intensity. Write it on sticky notes
and put them on a mirror, refrigerator, closet door, etc., as reminders. Say or sing your affirmation several times
in a row. This is great to do when you
are stopped at a red light, waiting for an elevator, standing in line, or are
on hold on the telephone. When
you repeat your affirmation, don’t do it hurriedly and mechanically, because
your subconscious will think you want your goal to be full of tension and
over in a hurry. Energize each
statement you write or say by putting your attention and delight into it. Giving it your say so makes it so! Condensed from chapter 93 of "Naturally Powerful: 200 Simple Actions to Energize Body, Mind, Heart,
& Spirit" by Valerie Wells, published by Perigee/Putnam |
