What Is Relaxation?

 

Webster’s dictionary defines relax as:  1. to make less tense or rigid  2. to relieve from nervous tension  3. to become less intense or severe  3. to seek rest.

 

The following visualization will do all of the above and more.  Relaxation is not merely the absence of tension, it is also the presence of love.  When love is absent, we may unconsciously turn to tension, thinking it is a source of strength.  Of course, it is a false source and the price it extorts is high.

 

To experience the higher octave of relaxation, bring more of your spiritual energy into your physical, mental, and emotional levels.  Your spirit is always relaxed, because it exists in harmony with the peace of Infinite Love, so welcoming more of it into your life will relax you to the max!  You’ll also have high-quality energy for enjoying your improved life.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Getting Comfortable

 

Sit with your back straight and feet flat on the floor so your blood and energy can flow freely.  Or, you can lie down on your back, but if you are falling asleep, sit up.  Although sleep is relaxing, you’ll miss out on the full healing potential of the visualization.

 

Take three deep breaths...  Inhale the first breath into your lungs.  Imagine that you draw the second breath into your heart.  Send your third breath down into the bottom of your belly.

 

Close your eyes and imagine yourself outdoors on a wooden deck.  The deck can overlook the sea, a lake, a river, a meadow, a forest, or mountains, depending on what view and sounds you find the most calming.  The deck is completely screened in, so you can relax in comfort, see the sky, and breathe fresh air, enlivened by the sun.  Take your shoes off and lie down on a cushioned chaise lounge that comfortably accommodates your body.  Notice details about your surroundings.  Listen to the sounds.  Smell how fresh and sweet the air is.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

MAXIMUM RELAXATION

 

Visualization

 

As you lie on your comfortable chaise lounge, enjoying the splendid view, you notice a large ball of bright golden-white light floating in the air just beyond your feet.  The golden-white light symbolizes energy that is loving and high in vibration.  The light has come to help you, but it respects your free will, so it waits for you to ask it for help before it takes action.

 

Welcome the light and ask it to please help you relax.  It bobs in response.  The light has only your most loving good at heart.  If you ask the light if that’s true, it bobs affirmatively, or you might intuitively sense its response.  Take a slow, deep breath and mentally invite the light to begin.

 

The ball of light surrounds your feet.  As you sense the light’s energy, your feet feel warm, cool, or tingly, depending on what they need to relax.  The light begins to absorb tension in your feet, and simultaneously restores strength and flexibility.

 

The light remains around your feet, but now it gently stretches to surround your legs.  The light absorbs any tension in your legs and restores strength, flexibility, and vitality to them.

 

The light moves up around your lower torso.  It absorbs tension in your hips and also absorbs both tension and toxins, be they physical or emotional, in all the organs in your abdomen.  The light restores health, harmony, and vitality to your stomach, spleen, pancreas, liver, gall bladder, intestines, and your urinary and reproductive systems.

 

The light rises up to your neck, enfolding your upper torso in healing light.  The loving energy of the light surrounds and fills your heart, absorbing any pain or tension there, be it physical or emotional, and enlivens your heart with peace.  It also absorbs tensions and toxins from your kidneys, adrenals, and lungs, filling them with harmonious healing energy.

 

The light gathers at your shoulders, cascades merrily down your arms, through your wrists, into your hands, and into each finger.  Simultaneously, the light absorbs tensions and toxins, and restores strength and flexibility.

 

The light expands upwards, filling and surrounding your neck.  The light absorbs tension from your throat and the back of your neck, filling the areas with soothing energy that increases strength and flexibility.

 

 

The light rises into your head.  It flows down into your chin, fills your mouth, and absorbs tension from where your jaw is hinged.  Your lower jaw relaxes and may drop slightly, and your tongue also relaxes.  The light fills your cheeks and your ears, restoring clarity of hearing on all appropriate levels.

 

The light rises smoothly to fill and surround your eyes, absorbing tension and irritation to restore clarity of seeing on all appropriate levels.  The light fills the temples on either side of your eyes, and moves up to your forehead and the crown of your head.

 

The light then expands to completely surround and fill your brain and mind.  It absorbs tensions and toxins from your brain and mind, be they physical, mental, or emotional.  It also melts away doubts, and fears, and worries from your mind.  At the same time, it illuminates your hopes and dreams for yourself so that they shine like miniature balls of light.  Your mind relaxes and in relaxing, it opens to positive new ideas and possibilities.

 

Your entire body is now completely filled with loving, healing, calming light.  Throughout your body, the light continues to absorb tensions and toxins, be they physical, mental, or emotional.  At the same time the light increases strength and flexibility, and health and harmony, in every cell in your body.

 

Scan your body intuitively, sensing if there is an area where the light is not present, or needs to be stronger.  Don’t try to second guess yourself as to whether you’re right or wrong, because you are the only one who knows the truth.  Trust your first impression.

 

If you feel that an area of your body would benefit from the loving healing of more light, simply ask the light to please give that area extra attention.  You can also ask the light to let you know why that area was resistant to the light.  The answer may come to you intuitively, or you may be aware of a thought in your mind.  Either way of knowing is valid.  Again, trust yourself and the light.  You will be able to sense when the light has given the area the needed attention.

 

Take a deep breath through your lungs, through your heart, and down into your belly.  Take a deeper breath that goes clear to your toes.  Then take a whole breath, so that you feel as if you are breathing with your whole body.  Next, take a complete breath, feeling as if you are breathing with the love and peace of the universe.

 

Thank the light for its healing and its love.  Thank yourself for creating and receiving the gift of peace.  Enjoy being relaxed!
